Local Martial Arts School Celebrates 6th year Anniversary of Teaching

Children, Adults, Families and the Community How to Be Healthier and Safer

Rochester, New York – Sifu Paul Gruschow, owner of Rochester Kung Fu and Fitness Inc., announces that the school will be celebrating its 6 Year anniversary with an Open House, November 26, 2011.  Staff, students, their families and the entire community are invited to attend. Rochester Kung Fu and Fitness Inc. is located at 584 West Ridge Road, in the same building as ETS Staffing and Flower City Tax in between Dewey avenue and Bernice Street.

The Open House is a family activity, featuring martial arts demonstrations, personal safety presentations, games for the kids, fun for all and refreshments.

“Everyone at Rochester Kung Fu and Fitness Inc. is proud to be a part of this community, especially because it provides us with the opportunity to share our message of personal safety with our neighbors,” said Sifu Paul Gruschow. “The benefits of martial arts are many—healthy physical activity, improved self-confidence and self-esteem, better concentration and discipline, and the satisfaction and fun of achieving a goal with others—however, as we teach our students: Self-defense always comes first. That is martial arts’ primary benefit.”

“Recent studies and data prove that defending oneself is not a matter of being prepared for possible confrontations in an unfamiliar part of town or in another city or state, but right in your neighborhood, even on the street where you live,” emphasized Sifu Paul Gruschow. “As the U.S. Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics reported, ‘Of the victims of violent crime, 22% were involved in some form of leisure activity away from home at the time of their victimization; 23% said they were at home; and another 20% mentioned they were at work or traveling to or from work when the crime occurred.’”

According to Sifu Gruschow, individuals and families who learn self-defense techniques are simply better prepared. Improved physical and mental fitness, combined with proper technique, help children and women, especially, to remain calm and in control of potentially harmful situations. Self-defense students also learn to be more aware of their surroundings. Children learn how to avoid bullies and abductions. Women learn how to turn their fear into power, so they are seldom victims. Men gain greater confidence and are better able to protect themselves and their families, in virtually any threatening situation.

“Our Anniversary Open House is a great opportunity to improve the safety of our community and teach our students how to be safety leaders, which is one of the most important qualities their parents want them to learn as martial arts students,” said Sifu Gruschow.

Rochester Kung Fu and Fitness Inc. is a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA), the world’s largest association of martial arts instructors and school owners. The association and its members strive for the highest standards of age-appropriate curriculum, leadership training, child safety and security, business integrity and professional ethics.
