December Word of the Month Week 4
Caring and Sharing
Week 4
“Sharing is healing.”
Cathy Stone
Translation for Adults
As you know, it’s not healthy to bottle up your negative emotions and experiences and let them crowd your mind with worry, and distract you from being positive, and experiencing the best of life. Speaking to someone about what’s bothering you or about what has happened to you can, in many cases, make you feel better, and start the healing process. Confide in a fellow martial artist, a friend, or a counselor you trust. It’s a great opportunity to feel much better. Sharing— your problems and the challenges of life — is healing.
Translation for Kids
When a problem is bothering you, it’s best to talk about it with someone. Share your problems and feel- ings with others. Most people have had those same problems and feelings. If you are very angry, then take the time to cool your anger first. You may be scared
of a bully. You may not be prepared for a spelling test. You may have snapped at a friend, and now you wish you hadn’t. You’ll feel much better if you share your feelings with someone you trust. Ask your parents, other family members and your friends to please listen to what you feel inside. People do want to help you, but you must be willing to talk and share, first. Once they know how you feel, they can help you stand up to a bully, cool your anger or make sure you are ready for the next spelling test. You’ll be amazed at how much better you will feel.
Class Discussion for Kids
- Have you ever confided in someone about a problem that was really bothering you?
- Did talking about it help you?
