December Word of the Month Week 1

Caring and Sharing

Week 1

“Three keys to more abundant living: caring about others, daring for others, sharing with others.”

William A. Ward, American writer of inspirational articles, poems and meditations

Translation for Adults

For many people, especially martial artists, one of the keys to happiness and abundant living is giving to others. When you show your concern and admiration; share your thoughts; and give unconditional support to a friend or family member, you feel great about yourself and thankful for the opportunity to be there for them.

Translation for Kids

Being happy and enjoying the abundance of life has nothing to do with the size of your bank account. You can be rich in a better way: Help others, and show that you care about them. A great way to help others is a random act of kindness. That’s when you help some- one without being asked. You see someone who needs help, so you stop what you are doing and help them. Some people just need to talk about their problems.

Share how you overcome problems, like a tough situ- ation with a friend, and you can make someone feel much better. It’s a great way for you to be happy, too, and enjoy abundant living.

Class Discussion for Kids

  1. Can you describe a random act of kindness that you did for someone else?
  2. When you did that kindness, how did it make you feel?
