December Word of the Month Week 2

Caring and Sharing

Week 2

“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.”

Denis Waitley, American author, lecturer and human achievement consultant

Translation for Adults

A smile tells others that you are approachable. It can   help to put a shy person at ease, tell a child who has spilled something that it’s okay, and show your martial arts classmates that you’d be a good choice for a helpful partner. Adults, in particular, must share more smiles with the people in their lives because adults experience more stress, and often have more reasons to frown than smile. Find the child inside, and reveal it with happy, sincere smiles that show you love life and want to share   it with everyone.

Translation for Kids

When you smile, especially at someone, you are show-   ing him or her that you are friendly. People like to be with happy people that care about others as much as themselves. Believe it or not, your smile can make other people who are having a bad day feel a bit better. Your smile can help shy people gain the courage to say “Hi” to you. So, smile often!

Class Discussion for Kids

  1. Can you think of a situation where you smiled to help someone?
  2. What was the situation? Was he upset, tired, shy?
